In the month of January, B and I have been traveling around Puerto Rico in hopes to find our new home. We’ve been everywhere, and I mean evvvverywhere. This island has so much to offer, and there’s so much to see – we’ve crammed a lot into just 2 weeks of touring. So what does this have to do with Tostado you may ask? Well, for one, it’s location. We stumbled upon it while touring the Condado area, and we thought, wow – that’s a cool spot! And we decided to pop on in.
The Atmosphere at Tostado
Before you even enter Tostado, you’re greeted by a colorful and cheerful building. And if you peek beside the building, you’ll see a bright (and gorgeous!) red vespa – which is absolutely adorable and makes me want to get a vespa.
When we walked into Tostado, we were greeted with a hello, and asked if we’d like a table. Now, as a heads up, there’s two options here at Tostado: you can go straight up to the counter and order a coffee to-go, or you can ask to be seated and eat in. Too many times I’ve walked into restaurants, only to look lost and confused. Do I sit down, and someone comes to me? Do I go up to the counter and order, and then sit down? WHAT. DO. I. DO?!
Anyways, they’ll ask if you’d like a table, so don’t fret. But if you just want to slip in for a coffee, they have a line set up for you:
After being seated, I got to take in our surroundings, and let me say this: the attention to detail at Tostado is perfecto. From the art chosen on the walls, the super cool light fixtures and plants hanging from the ceiling, to the overall modern vibe of the entire place.
The Service at Tostado
Our server came to our table within minutes, and immediately listed off the specials, however, they were in Spanish. I sat there trying to catch a word here and there, but by the time she was done, I just sat there looking like a deer in headlights (I tried to understand what I could, but alas, I still need a lot more work). B then turned to me and asked in English if I knew what I wanted to drink. Our server immediately started to apologize, which I told her there was no need – and that I was trying to learn. We asked how to say certain things in Spanish, and she was uber sweet and taught us how to order what we wanted. She was awesome!
The service was quick, and the food came out hot (and delicious!).
