5 Golden Rules for Cooking in the Kitchen

5 Golden Rules for Cooking in the Kitchen

4. Keep a notepad in the kitchen. Whether a new idea strikes for a recipe, or you’re testing out some changes to an old one, have something handy to write things down. This is especially important when trying a new recipe, too. Because, at the end of the day, not all recipes will turn out. But guess what? That’s ok – it’s part of the process (just promise you won’t get discouraged)! But writing down what you did or what you added, will help when analyzing what went wrong and what you can change to make the recipe better.

5. Have fun. I’m notorious for being an absolute butthead when my recipe doesn’t turn out – trust me, I’m working on it. But I shouldn’t focus on a failed recipe, but rather on how much fun I had playing mad scientist in the kitchen. What’s that cheesy saying that Pinterest gals paint on their living room walls? No, not Live, Laugh, Love… The “Life isn’t only about the destination, but also the journey”. Think of cooking like that. It’s not wasted time if you’re improving your chopping skills, learning new techniques, or perfected your salt bae impression.

Now it’s time to give these rules a whirl (or, create your own list)! Click here for some delicious recipes to test drive your golden rules on.
