The Food at Top Marks

There is literally nothing better than a strong, delicious cup of coffee in the morning. With that being said, B and I both got coffees; I got a delicious Mocha, and B got a double espresso.

After indulging in our coffees, we asked Jane what she would recommend. She asked our preferences, and we recited our list of things we loved to eat … it’s a long one. After a few recommendations we knew for sure we needed to try the Savory Smoked Salmon crepe – which includes: Smoked Salmon, Spinach, Egg and Horseradish. Now, it’s important to remember this right here: the salmon at Top Marks Café is spectacular, never frozen, and imported from the UK. It’s the best of the best, with no antibiotics, additives or coloring.

In addition to the Smoked Salmon Crepe, we ordered the Full Monty Crepe, which includes: Eggs, Bacon, Cheese, Spinach, Red Onion and Mushrooms. And since we figured that still wasn’t enough, we decided to order the Chicken Salad Croissant Sandwich, too.

Hey, we were hungry!

Top Marks Café isn’t stingy with the salmon (above), and they sure as heck aren’t stingy on the chicken salad! That croissant was packed full. Both were freaking delicious, and I could have ordered another of everything.

I’m sorry to report that I wasn’t fast enough to get photos of the Full Monty, as it was devoured quite shortly after arriving at our table – Apologies. Actually, I should continue to apologize, because this is where some of my food photos go missing… AKA I was in a food coma, and the camera was too far away. Yes, I apologize, but also, #noregrets. After secretly loosening a button on my jeans, it was time to test the gelato. And let me give you a heads up by saying this: save room for dessert. You do not want to leave without having gelato. I repeat. Do not leave without having gelato.

Now keep in mind, we had been here for a while now, and it was starting to get busy. So, after tasting nearly every flavor (sorry Jane and staff!), we finally settled on the Whiskey Carmel. It was so damn good. And then get this, as if we hadn’t eaten enough already, Jane made us an Affogato (click here if you’re unsure what that is) with the Whiskey Carmel gelato. I officially transitioned from food coma, to gelato heaven.

Overall

I love this spot, and I miss it dearly. From the crepes, Affogato, to the owner Jane, there’s just some places you can’t replace. If you’re in the Old Town area, stop by and treat yourself to an awesome breakfast/lunch, and pass a hi from me. And remember, don’t leave without gelato.
