Fun story about this recipe, my sister almost killed me with it. Sorry Jess, your secrets are getting exposed. My mother left my sister in charge of cooking while she was away running errands. Mind you, this is back when I was a wee lass, probably around 11 or 12. Pretty sure this was the first time Jess cooked for me while my parents were away, and quite possibly the last time. Anywho, instead of cooking the chicken for nearly 2hrs as the recipe states, she cooked it for around 11min. Death by salmonella would have been a real shitty way to go. But alas, here I am. We ended up realizing the chicken was raw, and didn’t eat it (although I ate some sauce – I was fine).
Not even a brush with death could keep me away from this recipe. I’ve been eating it now for over 15 years, and it’s delicious every time. So please enjoy this family gem; I promise it’ll be added to your favorite recipe list.
And Jessica, I forgive you. I just won’t ever let you cook this recipe for us again. Love you <3
